VFU File Manager
VF File Manager for UNIX (c) Vladi Belperchinov-Shabanski 1997-2011

  Short description | Platforms | Respond | Download+Screenshots

i. Description

VFU is console (text mode) file manager for UNIX/Linux.

I made all possible to make VFU cover all file managing needs and offer large set of behaviour options. If I succeeded or not, you can decide for yourself but without trying I believe noone can say for sure.

Thank you if you did try VFU! If you still haven't, you are welcome to do so :)

Remember that 'H' key inside the main VFU list is _HELP_ information!

Good luck! External info about VFU:

ii. Supported platforms

VFU is tested and supported on these platforms:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : Linux
Maintainer : Vladi Belperchinov-Shabanski mailto:[email protected]
Notes : This is original VFU development platform ( well, after DOS, really :) )
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : Mac OS X
Maintainer : Vladi Belperchinov-Shabanski mailto:[email protected]
Notes : Build procedure for Mac OS X is described inside the package.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : Linux ( RedHat RPM Packages )
Maintainer : Ryan Weaver mailto:[email protected]
Notes : RedHat RPM Packages are avalable here
             (old releases unfortunately)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : Linux ( Debian DEB Packages )
Maintainer : William Vera mailto:[email protected]
Notes : Debian packages are available here
Thanks to Mika Fischer mailto:[email protected]
for initial support of VFU for Debian.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : Cygwin (Windows)
Maintainer : Jari Aalto
Notes : Cygwin packages (VFU search @ cygwin)
             Thank you!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : NetBSD
Maintainer : Hubert Feyrer http://www.feyrer.de mailto:[email protected]
Notes : VFU patches/package for NetBSD can be found here (or here) :)
: Binary package can be found here.
             Thank you!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : GNU Hurd
Maintainer : None
Notes : I've been told that VFU runs without problems on the Hurd platform.
             Maintainer wanted!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : Solaris
Maintainer : None
Notes : Compiles flawlessly ( with some header locations changes ),
but since I have no access to Solaris machines, there's no maintainer...
             Maintainer wanted!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform : DOS
Maintainer : Vladi Belperchinov-Shabanski mailto:[email protected]
Notes : Works fine. Supports LFN under Win95/98 when compiled with DJGPP.
Support for DOS will be dropped in near future!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Generally, VFU should compile on every UNIX platform if there's curses library available...
If someone have compiled VFU for some other OS, please, tell me.

iii. Feedback

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks! :)
